Here is my prep list for Ironman races which I have tweaked with each race.


Swim to Bike Bag

  • Bike shorts & top if you choose
  • Bike rain jacket
  • Bike Socks w/Talc
  • Bike Shoes w/Talc
  • Bike Helmet (if not on bike)
  • Race Belt w/Number
  • Sunglasses
  • Transition Towel

Bike to Run Bag

  • Run Shorts, T-shirt, Long Sleeve
  • Spare Sunglasses in Case
  • Bodyglide
  • Socks w/Talcum Powder
  • Plasters
  • Gels & Salt
  • Run Cap
  • Running Shoes w/Talc

Day Before

  • Drop off T1 and T2 Bags
  • Drop off Bike
  • Deflate Tires if hot
  • Apply Temporary Tattoos

On Bike for check in

  • Gel Holder with gels & salt tabs
  • Bike Number
  • Seat Bag (Inner tubes, etc)
  • Bike Computer (reset)

Bike Special Needs Bag

  • Frozen Bottles with Energy
  • Extra Salt

Race Morning To Do

  • Drink ULTRAFUEL!
  • Eat Salt
  • Put Fluids on Bike
  • Bike Pump Tires
  • Drop off Special Needs Bags
  • Wear Tri bottoms & Top
  • Check Watch
  • Check Chip on ankle

Race Morning Take With

  • Bike Gels & Salt
  • Bike Bottles
